This is a trip designed for active travelers willing to explore the famous Cotopaxi region by visiting some of its most iconic places. From a private ecological reserve to a magical lake, this tour will take you on a fantastic journey. This program includes hikings to the waterfalls and acclimatization walk at Hacienda El Porvenir and Rumiñahui Volcano; Horseback Riding, Rumiñahui Volcano and Cooking Classes; Visit the Cotopaxi National Park Visit and Quilotoa Lake.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Waterfall Hike and Easy Walk at Hacienda El Porvenir
Start your day with a scenic hike along the Pita River, enjoying beautiful waterfalls and nature. After a 3-4 hour walk, visit the stunning Condor Machay waterfall. Then, take a short walk to Santa Rita Reserve for more waterfall views. Enjoy lunch there before heading to Hacienda El Porvenir. In the afternoon, explore the peaceful Bosque del Tentadero forest or relax at the spa.

Day 2: Rumiñahui Volcano Hike
After breakfast, hike the Rumiñahui Volcano with a local guide. Enjoy amazing views of valleys, mountains, and nearby volcanoes. The hike takes about 5 hours and is moderately challenging. Pack a lunch to enjoy with mountain views. Return to Hacienda El Porvenir for a warm rest by the fireplace.

Day 3: Horseback Riding and Cooking Class
Begin with a horseback ride dressed like local cowboys, guided by an expert chagra who shares stories and culture. The ride lasts about 3 hours. After lunch, join a fun cooking class to learn how to make traditional Ecuadorian dishes like cheese empanadas, aji chili sauce, and canelazo, a warm festive drink. Enjoy your meal by the fireplace.

Overnight at Hacienda El Porvenir
Day 4: Cotopaxi National Park Adventure
Explore the famous Cotopaxi National Park, home to wild horses, foxes, and beautiful birds. Take a short hike to the climbing hut near the volcano and enjoy breathtaking views. Later visit Limpiopungo Lake for lunch and explore ancient Inca ruins and volcanic landscapes. Remember to bring water and your camera!

Overnight at Hacienda El Porvenir
Day 5: Quilotoa Lake Visit
Travel to the stunning Quilotoa Lake, a colorful volcanic crater lake. Hike down to the lake shore or take a mule ride if you prefer. After a packed lunch, return to Quito for additional days there to continue enjoying the city or transfer to your next destination.
