ITINERARY
DAY 1 ARRIVAL IN QUITO
Welcome to the highest capital city in the world! Settle into your hotel and get ready for adventure. Your English-speaking guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel.

DAY 2 – PULULAUA RESERVE, MIDDLE OF THE WORLD, MINDO.
Stand with one foot in each hemisphere at the Middle of the World. Explore Pululahua’s lush crater and then head to Mindo, a cloud forest paradise. Additionally, you will visit the Inti Ñan Solar Museum (Inti Ñan means “Path of the Sun” in Kichwa) were; by engaging in different experiments, you will understand the gravitational anomalies exclusive to this latitude.
After leaving the Middle of the World, you will head to the Pululahua reserve. Pululahua is an active volcano that erupted 2500 years ago for the last time. This area is now entirely covered with an astonishing variety of wild orchids, puma maqui trees, ferns and bromeliads. An effortless walk inside the crater will let you enjoy its unique geography and ecology.
Finally, you will be driven down in zigzags until you reach Mindo, a town located inside a stunning cloud forest, known for its incredible adventure and birdwatching opportunities. At the end of the tour return to hotel.

DAY 3 – MINDO NATURE & WILDLIFE – FULL DAY TOUR
Discover hummingbirds and waterfalls at Alambi Reserve, a family project for the conservation of 120 hectares of primary forest. Its role is essential for the protection of species of high importance, including 124 species of hummingbirds (out of the 320 in the world). Visit the butterfly garden to see the magic of metamorphosis up close.
Here it’s possible to explore different paths leading to 3 vertiginous cascades, backwaters and virgin forest.
To end your Mindo adventure, we visit the Mariposario (butterfly garden), a unique place where you can closely admire the fascinating 4 stages of a butterfly’s life cycle. On this live exhibit, you might encounter more than 1200 butterflies belonging to 25 species.

DAY 4 – CLOUD FOREST & CHOCOLATE FUN
Hike to stunning cascades and ride a panoramic cable car. End the day learning about chocolate from bean to bar.
After breakfast, a short drive through a dirt road will take you to the entrance of the Nambillo cascades sanctuary. From there you will start a hike through lush forest until you reach a canyon, which will be crossed onboard a panoramic cable car. Continuing the route on the other side, you can choose which of the 7 cascades you want to visit. The whole adventure is of light physical intensity, but there is a 2km segment of a steep path. The natural pool area of largest waterfall is 250 square meters wide and invites for a cleansing-energizing dip.
Later, you will visit El Quetzal, an interesting experience for chocolate and culinary enthusiasts alike. In this artisanal chocolate production center, you will see and experience every step of the chocolate-making process from the tree to the finished chocolate bars.
Finish with a visit to the famous Mariposario (butterfly garden), a unique place where you will have the chance to learn up close about the 4 stages in a butterfly’s life. On this live exhibit, you will encounter more than 1.200 butterflies belonging to 25 species. Return to hotel in Quito.

DAY 5 – QUITO HIGHLIGHTS & DEPARTURE
Starting at Independence Square, you will be able to appreciate side by side the architectural wealth of Quito. You will then continue to admire the colonial church of San Francisco, the elegant façades of the Carondelet presidential palace, the former Archbishops palace and the Jesuit church of La Compañia de Jesús.
The city tour finishes with a visit to the top of Panecillo Hill, which offers panoramic views of Quito and surrounding volcanoes, and is crowned by a giant replica of the city’s Madonna patron saint. After your half day tour, you will be transferred to Quito’s international airport to board your outbound international flight.
