ITINERARY
Day 1. The hike to the waterfalls and acclimatization walk at Hacienda El Porvenir
Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Quito to the enchanting Pita River valley. At 3,200 meters (10,499 ft), set out on a 3–4-hour hike through lush landscapes to the stunning Condor Machay waterfall, cascading 80 meters (263 ft). Afterward, enjoy a short trek to Santa Rita Private Ecological Reserve for a rare vantage point of the falls. Relish a hearty lunch before heading to Hacienda El Porvenir, where a gentle afternoon walk through the Bosque del Tentadero awaits. Unwind in the evening with optional spa treatments or cozy fireside relaxation.

Day 2. Horseback Ride to El Mirador and High Ropes Course
Start your day with a farm-fresh breakfast and a riding lesson before donning traditional Chagra attire for a 2-hour horseback ride across scenic trails and open paramo. Reach El Mirador de los Guardianes del Volcán at 3,800 meters (12,500 ft) for breathtaking views of Cotopaxi Volcano. Return to the hacienda for a delicious local lunch, then challenge yourself on the exhilarating High Ropes Course, navigating ladders, nets, and bridges 20 feet above ground in a safe, eco-friendly setting.

Day 3. Life of Hacienda/Hike in the forest/Plant a tree
Experience authentic Andean rural life by joining the Chagras in their daily tasks, from horse care to llama feeding. After a traditional breakfast, explore the resilience forest with Fundación Páramo, learning about native plants and conservation efforts. Return for lunch, then contribute to the environment by planting a tree, connecting deeply with Pachamama.

Day 4. Cotopaxi National Park Visit
Discover the wonders of the equatorial glaciers and active volcanoes on a day trip to Cotopaxi National Park. Encounter wild horses, Andean foxes, and migratory birds as you hike to the José Ribas Refuge at 4,800 meters (15,744 ft). Enjoy a boxed lunch by Limpiopungo Lake before exploring ancient Inca fortresses and volcanic landscapes. Capture unforgettable photos and return to Quito for your onward journey.

Hacienda El Porvenir
Located in a truly privileged position at the foothills of Rumiñahui volcano, Hacienda El Porvenir is the ideal place to explore Cotopaxi, experience firsthand Andean lifestyle, and enjoy moments of adventure. The house is just an hour and a half from Quito and 4 km from the northern entrance of Cotopaxi National Park.
Situated at an altitude of 3,600 meters and surrounded by four volcanoes, including Cotopaxi, the hacienda boasts a stunning landscape. Guests can enjoy a comfortable stay in accommodations constructed with local materials, maintaining the spirit and essence of Andean architecture. True to traditional design and meeting modern needs, the hacienda’s buildings are arranged around a large central courtyard. These include the main house, the smaller house, and the stable house. With stables, a saddle room, and corrals, the hacienda functions as an authentic working farm.
